Only two months (ish) til I hit the road. Route and gear preparations are peppered with self accusations of insanity. Does it really matter if I bring a water filter, a tripod, a fourth pair of socks? What if I don't make it to Nukus before the art museum closes?
I've also been dodging conversations about the trip lately. For many reasons, mainly I'm just uncomfortable with (and tired of) the same old comments; "I could never do that!" "Doesn't your butt hurt?" "what-is-stan? They let americans in?!" They are all valid comments/concerns I suppose. I'm just too nervous lately to be defending my choices.
